WELL I DECIDED THAT MY WEBSITE IS ARCHEIC AND NEEDS A FACELIFT AND MY FRIEND PATTI WILL BE REDOING IT SO THAT IT LOOKS GOOD AND IS MORE PLEASING TO THE EYE.

 IT WILL ALSO BE EASIER TO USE AND NAVIGATE IN.

LASTLY, IT WILL HAVE A VIRTUAL BOOK THAT I AM IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING.

IT WILL BE CALLED "RETURN TO NORMAL", A PEOPLE'S MANUAL OF MEDICINE.  IT WILL BE SOLD CHAPTER BY CHAPTER OR ANY CHAPTER YOU WISH...  

SO NOW THAT WE KNOW MONEY IS A BIG FACTOR WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING DECISIONS ABOUT OUR HEALTH AND HOW FAR WE CAN GO TO IMPROVE IT. LET'S SEE IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO CREATE A HEALTH CARE SYSTEM THAT NOT ONLY IS PROFITABLE FOR ALL WHO USE IT BUT ACTUALLY WORKS.

LET'S SAY EVERYONE INVOLVED, MEANING THE INSURANCE COMPANIES, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, PHARMACIES, PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES, HEALTH FACILITIES, AND PATIENTS WERE ALL RANKED ON A SLIDING SCALE. THAT WOULD BE A ZERO POINT FOR STARTINGOUR NEW SYSTEM.

SOME EXAMPLES OF THIS COULD WORK LIKE THIS.......A PATIENT WALKS INTO A PHYSICIAN OFFICE AND TAKES A STANDARDIZED SET OF TESTS. THESE COULD BE A LOT MORE SOPHISTICATED AND ENCOMPASSING THEN THE USUAL SCREENING TESTS OFFERED. I WILL ELLUCIDATE ON THESE IN ANOTHER JOIURNAL ENTRY. THE SCORE OF THAT PATIENT WOULD BE BASED UPON THEIR OVERALL HEALTH, AGE, LIFESTYLE, TEST SCORES, MEDICATIONS AND PAST HISTORY. LET'S SAY A GRADE OF 7.25 OUT OF A POSSIBLE 10.0 WAS REACHED. IF THE NEXT YEAR A 7.1 WAS ACHIEVED  THEN THAT PERSON WOULD HAVE TO PAY THAT MUCH MORE FOR THEIR HEALTH COVERAGE.
......... PHYSICIANS COULD BE RATED BY TAKING THE AVERAGE OF ALL THEIR PATIENTS SCORES AND THAT WOULD BE A ZERO POINT. IF THE AVERAGE GOES UP THE NEXT YEAR THEN THE PHYSICIAN WOULD BE COMPENSATED AT A HIGHER RATE AND CONVERSELY IF THE AVERAGE WENT DOWN A LESSER RATE OF COMPENSATION WOULD BE PAID.
.........WE COULD DO THE SAME TYPE OF RATING SYSTEM WITH EVERY ONE, FACILITY, COMPANY AND AGENCY INVOLVED IN THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. THIS WAY EVERYONE IN THE SYSTEM WOULD HAVE A VESTED INTEREST IN STAYING HEALTHY, BECOMING HEALTHY, RUNNING THEIR COMPANIES, FACILITIES AND AGENCIES SO THAT THE PATIENTS WOULD BENEFIT.

NOW CALL ME A NUT BUT I'LL BET THIS TYPE OF SYSTEM COULD RESOLVE A LOT OF ISSUES AND ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY FOR ALL PARTIES INVOLVED WHILE GETTING OUR POPULATION BACK TO A HEALTHY STATE.

BY THE WAY.......WHY DON'T WE DO THIS RATING WITH FOOD PRODUCTS....ORGANIC BEING THE CHEAPEST TO BUY BECAUSE THE TAXES WOULD BE LOWEST, WHILE SOMETHING LIKE TWINKIES WOULD BE DOUBLE OR TRIPLE TAXED BECAUSE IT WOULD BE BETTER SERVED UP ON A HUB CAP TO GREASE WHEELS INSTEAD OF PEOPLES STOMACHS.

The idea is to create a medical healthcare system that satisfies all parties involved. That would be the healthcare user, the healthcare provider, any government agencies involved, private companies offering healthcare coverage, pharmacies, and laboratories. One idea I had was to realize that this is, and will probably be a democratic and capitalistic society. As much as I hate that word, capitalism,  if you are educated, be used to our advantage.

Over the years that I have been in practice, one of the greatest tools I have for changing peoples' lifestyles and their view of potential healthcare risks is money. For example, if I am trying to tell a patient that drinking soft drinks would be to their disadvantage but they reply that "Oh, I couldn't live wihout my soft drinks".  In order to persuade them I tell them that if they don't listen to advise that would benefit them medically in the future, then it is best for me as "I would be glad to take all their money when they have problems due to poor lifestyle."  I also say that "it is in my patients best interests to supply the best information possible to them, but it is in my best interests if they don't listen because I will make more money that way". Of course, I am not serious but it usually gets a response of "Well if that's the case, I'd rather not drink the soft drinks and save the money".
 So you see that people are more interested in money then their health. Thai is because this society has trained them that money is the most important issue. We can use this to our benefit.

TONIGHT IS THE FIRST OF A HOPEFULLY LONG RUN OF MEDICAL DISCUSSIONS THAT REACH THE REALMS OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF MEDICINE AND THE ROOTS OF DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT.  HOW CAN WE TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES?  WHO ARE WE?   WHY ARE WE HERE?   DOES IT MATTER?   WHY DO I WRITE IN ALL CAPS? 

 If we assume that we are here because we are, and we are who we are, and it does matter that we are here, then it matters how we treat ourselves. That is where we jump into this quagmire(sp?) of a medical system that we were born into. It's too late for me to generate how I feel we can change it tonight, but wait till tomorrow....
